Emma McNally: Blog

Artist Insight

For the duration of MIRRORCITY artist Emma McNally will be posting regularly on our Southbank Centre blog. Using text, image and sound the artist will explore and expand upon the themes of her work featured in the exhibition.

McNally’s studio is situated at the West India dock on the banks of the river Thames. The site of her studio and its relationship to networks of water, commerce and communication is reflected in her large-scale drawings in MIRRORCITY. Using a combination of archival and contemporary documents McNally will form a complex and evolving portrait of an area of the city rich in cultural, economic and military history.
